Like so many of us looking for answers to what is the best way to lose weight fast, we wind up going in circles leaving more questions left unanswered than answers which help to serve us.

The other day I was asked to bring a bucket loaded with water over to my husband, one of those Home Depot buckets, and I was telling him how heavy it was, and how I wasn’t sure I would be able to lift it.

The bucket weighed 40 pounds, to my surprise.

It was hard to imagine, but the weight I lost was ten more pounds than that bucket!

Could I have possibly lost more weight than the heaviness of that bucket?

All I thought was, wow, I weighed more than that at my heaviest; 50 pounds heavier than I am now.

The problem with those of us who are overweight want quick fixes, and unless you are one who thinks this is the only way, then there is no point in reading on.

The path to wellness takes dedication and a longing for change, and it will not happen with a pill, a diet or any other way that promises a quick fix.

When people ask ‘what is the best way to lose weight fast’ and in asking are also sincere in sticking with what is necessary to make it happen which is patience, perseverance, and pliancy, I know they will reach their goals.

I call those three attributes the three Ps.

  • Patience has mostly to do with how you treat yourself.

If you are not patient with yourself, you will become agitated and eat out of frustration and spite.

  • Perseverance comes with your attitude.

If you don’t have perseverance, then you will lose the ability to go the distance it takes to lose unwanted weight.

  • Pliancy comes with how well you adjust to different situations.

You must be able to bend the rules now and then, to feel you are part of life, and not caged in a cell with your negative thought patterns leaving you feeling isolated and lonely.

How did I lose 50 pounds and how did I keep it off all these years later?

I walked every day without missing the opportunity to get up and out and walk, walk and walk.

Getting the right walking shoes is paramount to wanting to walk in the first place, so be sure you treat yourself and get yourself the right shoes for your feet!

Without the right shoe, you will not be inspired to get out and walk, trust me.

For the longest time, I thought I’d be cheap and not invest in a good pair of walking shoes. I didn’t think the right shoes would make any difference to how I would feel while walking, and I was so wrong; they made all the difference.

As soon as my new shoes arrived and as soon as I placed them on my feet it was as if my body said, that’s it, we are ready and let’s go.

It was that easy, truly.

But, it is essential that you invest in the best walking shoes, so you feel the same attitude to get up and out for your walks.

There are a plethora of ways to lose weight quickly, but those won’t keep your weight off and allow you to live in a wholesome, balanced way.

In the beginning, it’s hard to think that one can just walk off their extra pounds, but let me tell you, it works!

My husband was astonished at how well I was beginning to look, and feel, that he began these walking excursions with me, which then turned into beautiful weekend hikes to places we’ve never been before.  It’s been wonderful for both of us.

The fad diets that seem to be so popular will help you shed weight quickly, but they will be leaving your body exhausted with hunger while making you feel deprived.

So, what is the point of losing weight quickly only to gain it back within a few weeks?

When you are asking yourself what is the best way to lose weight fast what you are truly asking is how can I lose this unwanted extra baggage on my body that is making me so incredibly uncomfortable.

It begins with how you think period.

All the people, at least the ones I know, have all one thing in common.

They all wanted the same thing; to feel good in their bodies.

Being overweight did not happen to you overnight.

It takes many months if not years to develop a body in need of radical weight change.

While I was on my journey to wellness and weight loss I looked around; what is the best way to lose weight fast?

I realized I was going around in circles without any end in sight.

The best thing I did for myself during my most difficult times was to reach out and talk with those who have been through similar struggles.

The absolute best advice given was this:  while you are figuring out how to change a life-long pattern, go for long walks while you’re thinking about how to improve them.

Walking helped me in a countless way, and I firmly believe it will help you, too.

Begin with a good pair of walking shoes; they will either encourage you or discourage you to get out, trust me.

Nothing feels worse than being overweight wearing ill-fitting shoes.

There are many walking shoes on the market, and all will feel different.

The shoes I am sharing with you here are the ones I used for myself and let me tell you; I couldn’t wait to put them on to take myself out for my daily walks.

Owning the right pair of shoes will make all the difference in the world, and if you’re not willing to make this one simple change, then it is time to re-think what is most important to you in the first place.

Walking balances both your right and left hemispheres of your brain while working up your heartbeat;  getting your blood moving to all your organs.

It is the single most important exercise you can do when it comes to finding the fastest way to lose weight, safely.

Since I have lost the 50 pounds, people everywhere, that have known me, are asking, what is the fastest way to lose weight, and with anyone that asks I tell them the same; begin with walking every day.

  1. I have been battling weight gain for as long as I can remember and the one thing I have learned is that there is no quick remedy for losing weight.

  2. Walking is great exercise to do. It’s low impact and low intensity and everyone can do it. It’s something that anyone can commit to

    1. I totally agree with you! We are the one country (USA) where you can see everyone doing everything else BUT walk.
      Those things kids can ride on now looks fun but there’s no cardio involved. And, folks using scooters in big stores just because.

    I have just started walking everyday for an hour and it feels so good. I have an office job so I do not move a lot during the weekdays and I have just started to grow a little belly which is really frustrates me because I used to play tennis everyday. But now I am working so I do not really have to time to go to a tennis court and play a couple times a week so the best way for me is walking.

    1. The abs are the most difficult especially for women after delivering their babies. I find planks work best for abs workouts.  Walking every day helps us in ways other than losing weight. It helps us think and clear our heads from the hustle and bustle of everyday commotion we deal with.  Thanks for your comment! 

  4. I lost 70 pounds and it wasn’t anything magic either. People always ask when they see pictures from me several years ago and I just say I ate healthy and kept active. In our society we want everything Right Now and aren’t willing to wait. Those diets that you do that make you lose weight quickly typically aren’t effective because you don’t keep doing what you did when you were losing the weight. Eating healthy and walking are two things you can do forever.

  6. Great tips on losing weight and using shoes that fit. I bought some shoes that work but my problem is the heat where I live is overbearing for me. Almost to the point where its unhealthy to go out on some days in the summer. I do have an exercise bike which I use a few days a week. I haven’t lost a lot maybe a few pounds but I do go to the swimming pool and swim which is very healthy as well. Also, I think the food is a huge factor in weight loss. You can’t eat a yogurt and oatmeal for lunch, a small lunch, and a Decent size dinner if you don’t move throughout the day. Working outside always kept me fit as a younger man but now in my/50s, it’s a little tougher. There Are many factors that can affect weight and attitudes like employment, finances, chronic health issues, and age. It’s easy for many to say losing weight is easy with the right tools but the attitude is probably the best tool to lose some pounds. And that doesn’t cost a penny. Good post.

  7. There have been many people who want to lose weight but do not know how to go about it, and so get discouraged. So buying a pair of running shoes is the first step to reaching your goal. My mum also took the same step when she purchased her own running shoes and started to get up early and run, which helped her a lot because she lost weight, looked good, and was a lot happier.

    1. Good for your mum! I bought a pair of running shoes and started to run, too.  Only this time, at my age, I am better off walking than running. I will work back up to it, as I used to be an avid runner, and I do miss that ‘runners high’ from all the endorphins.  Thanks for leaving a comment!

  8. nice overview of what to do to lose weight and the 10 tips in the video were great.
    I also found that walking helped me lose weight and was fun also. Walking was my way of exploring new areas of town and even oriented me to a new place when I moved there. You get a much better sense of how everything fits together when you walk instead of drive.
    I do drink a lot of water and find that this helps me keep weight down.
    The one thing you also mentioned is to give yourself a break sometimes and eat something that wouldn’t be considered on your diet. Today I had some frozen yogurt, which is empty calories, but I enjoyed it and you can’t be “good” all the time.
