The World Health Organization, on October 26th 2015, has come out and claimed that processed meats such as bacon, sausages, and hot dogs cause cancer.
This isn’t big news to many people practicing a vegetarian or vegan lifestyle but for main stream folks, this is quite the shocker.
Many people are already claiming this is another “conspiracy theory” which is beyond extreme thinking to those who know and understand the truth.
It takes much education and will of power to want to change a lifestyle of eating.
For many it is almost impossible, until it is too late, unfortunately.
For the World Health Organization to claim processed meats is in the same category of cancer risk as tobacco smoking and asbestos, is quite the eye opener, and kick in the gut for so many around the world.
This is a huge deal for so many. It’s time we figure out better ways to feed our families and ourselves. Yes?
So, what are processed foods?
The International Food Information Council Foundation defines processed foods as “Any deliberate change in a food that occurs before it’s available for us to eat.”
Here are a few examples:
- Foods that come in a can or a box
- Commercially prepared foods
- Anything other than whole foods
- All snack foods in the snack isle
It isn’t the end of the world for you to eat all these things, every now and then, but too many people make eating processed foods their daily dietary intake, which will lead to obesity and overall ill health.
I was raised on steaks and potatoes, in fact, I loved my steak!
It wasn’t until I was in my late teens early twenties that I decided to try all kinds of fad diets.
I remember trying out the “Fruitarian” diet and wow what an experience that was.
It wasn’t until I wanted to become pregnant with my first child that I came to realize eating only fruit stopped my ability to become pregnant.
The main reason I tried out so many different food fads is because my digestive track wasn’t responding well to the foods I was ingesting.
You hear about it all the time these days. The bloating, constipation, and overall un-ease in the gut.
Eating non-processed foods is a great way to begin for anyone thinking about changing their diets.
It can be very simple if you allow it to be.
Begin with a good attitude and a desire to want a vibrant life filled with amazing results in a short amount of time; if you apply yourself.
Nothing beats feeling good inside your own skin.
These days too many people are suffering unnecessarily.
With good whole foods and healthy choices, it is possible to live a life free from many ailments the average person suffers from eating too many processed foods.
