Hindsight is always 20/20, and if I had known all the damage that can be caused by unhealthy eating habits, I would have thought twice before indulging.  

This world we are living in is pretty toxic, and doing a good cleanse, say twice a year, is an excellent idea.

If you’re feeling sluggish, bogged down and in need of a reset, doing a healthy detox cleanse is absolutely the best choice for you.

  1. First off, congratulations on your own weight loss success. I have never completed a cleanse. What were the side effects, if any, during your cleanse? I know staying hydrated can help significantly, but do you become weak and experience flu like symptoms? Your post covers ample information and really explains the importance of cleansing your body. Great job!

    1. Hi there! I have heard of many people getting flu-like symptoms during a cleanse but fortunately for me I have not. I believe drinking lots of water and exercising, simple walking, is essential to help keep your blood flow moving all toxins through your system. I actually felt great. Might I suggest not giving up and to keep on trying till you’re thoroughly happy with the results! Thanks for your comment!!

I was just on the phone with my brother less than an hour ago telling him I going to do a detox to kick start my immune system in preparation for the cold Melbourne winter, then I came across your site. What timing. It was a reminder of all the things I used to be into when I was fitness instructor but have somehow lost interest for post baby.   3. Hi Meherbani, thanks for the very productive article regarding our health. I am a victim of those refined foods like beer, coca cola and tea with a lot of sugar. I can feel how sometimes I feel so exhausted and now I know it is because I get detoxicated. I real don’t like drinking water and when I am thirsty I do drink a coke or a beer. but from now I am starting building a habit of drinking water as advised and which is costless before I move to the next option.

  4. I agree with the link between detoxing and disease prevention. If you think of it, once in a while we have to clean our physical bins or it remains smelly. If we don’t take time to detox we end up the same.

    I like your site and you’ve got some interesting points covered.

    Is it okay to replace lemon with Apple Cider Vinegar. I read comments and you gave a suggestion regarding coping with highs.

    1. The lemon drink I was suggesting for ‘coping with highs’ was meant for sugar lows and highs. It’s from the “master cleanse” originally founded in 1940 by alternative health care practitioner, Stanely Burroughs.

      Lemon and Apple cider are completely different by nature but have similar healing properties.

  5. This is an interesting article. I don’t think I need a detox but I have a friend that does. He is fat and I’m sure he has all kinds of toxins in his body. He goes to the gym but he has be contemplating going on a detox. He told me he deficates 7 times a day but maybe that’s not enough. I am definitely going to show him this site!

    What an excellent coverage on detoxing. I personally detox every 3 months. Like you say the difference in your energy is remarkable.

    Whilst I wasn’t detoxing for weight loss you simply can’t help it, the pounds literally fall off. Although I have been detoxing for a while the program you suggest sounds fastincating.

    You’re right you should have guidance before you start detoxing on your own, the program sounds perfect for beginners and intermediate users. Excellent read!

    I like your health topic on the healthy detox cleanse. First of all don’t be surprised, this is my first time to reading an article on a different and easy way of losing weight and keeping myself healthy.

    I have used different weight loss products but the results lasted only for few months and then I am back to normal . I am currently doing the skip lunch and eat little in the evening but I am becoming more weak and pale. But starting now from reading this article on a healthy detox cleanse, I will look into this more and most likely do this cleanse.

    If possible add some recipes we can follow after a good healthy detox cleanse!

    You are right that to rid from junk food is one of most important steps. We gain unwanted calories eating too much and what is devastating is that always we are hungry. Most of all junk food does not have vitamins and nutrients. We always feel hungry and we go to visit refrigerator again and again.

    To clean our body is a great thing because we help rid ourselves of toxins.

    I read that is advisable to fast one day a week: just drink pure water all day long.

    I would like to start doing it because my friends do it and they feel great.

  10. Doing a cleanse is something I have wanted to try. I have never done one before. We made the transition to healthier cooking in our house a few years ago. It’s been a slow process. As a busy mom, sometimes I find it time-consuming to cook every waking hour.

    The thing I struggle with most is sugar. I don’t indulge every waking moment but I do enjoy a good dessert here and there.

    Do you have tips to help with the sugar cravings or caffeine cravings during the cleanse?

    1. The best tip I can give with sugar cravings is this: 1/2 tbs maple syrup, a dash of cayenne pepper, 1/2 lemon in 16 oz fresh water.
      That’ll take care of your highs and lows when it comes to sugar cravings … It would be worth your while to try out the healthy detox cleanse.
      The healthy cooking after a good cleanse will come to you very naturally and it won’t be a burden. Hope this helps!

    I have always wondered about a healthy detox cleanse and how it affects the body. I’ve wondered if it is healthy for an individual to do a detox cleanse without a Dr supervising. After reading the article it seems like it really does work and you have done it yourself with great success. It must take a lot of willpower to stop what you are used to eating and drinking to completely empty your body of what you are used to.

    The only question I would have is, does all water weight that you lose after a healthy detox cleanse come back?

    1. All the water weight that is lost will come back if you’re not continuing a healthy lifestyle. It’s very easy to gain weight back once you lost it so it’s very important to keep healthy habits a way of life.
